ABOUT- XOCHIQUETZAL COUNCIL, INC
Our Story & Mission
Xochiquetzal Council, Inc. is a nonprofit organization founded and led by an Indigenous Mexican community established in New Jersey. For over 20 years, we have served as a vital bridge of living ancestral wisdom, dedicated to healing, educating, and empowering our community and allies.
We achieve this through three interconnected paths:
1. Ceremonial Healing & Traditional Medicine
We practice and teach ancestral healing technologies, primarily the Temazcal (sacred sweat lodge) and herbal medicine, to restore holistic wellness—body, mind, emotion, and spirit.
2. Cultural Preservation & Education
We keep our traditions alive through Indigenous dance (Danza Azteca/Conchera) as living prayer, and through workshops on cosmology, the Nahuatl language, and values that strengthen cultural identity and decolonize thought.
3. Community Empowerment & Legacy Building
We foster self-sufficiency by teaching traditional crafts and earth-based knowledge. Our most urgent vision is to build a permanent Cultural & Arts Center—a dedicated space for our ceremonies, dances, gardens, and intergenerational learning, ensuring this legacy thrives for future generations.
Our work is a journey of reconnection—to our roots, to each other, and to Mother Earth.
